***Saturday Sounds***

As I shared in my post, “Fantasia Said it Best“, music is my go to for therapy. I wanted to start a new series to uplift others with some of the ways I uplift myself. I bring to you “SATURDAY SOUNDSMy Jam of the Week“.  Every Saturday I will share a song or two that has inspired me in some way, whether it’s the words, the beats, or the melodic tunes. Whether it makes me want to celebrate, laugh, get up and dance, or even cry. Whether its give me a feeling of healing or nostalgia. I’m sharing it here!!! I hope you enjoy this series and hopefully I introduce you to some sweet sounds!!!!

Peace

Billie Holiday – “Strange Fruit”

Strange Fruit

Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.

Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.
